Schema.org is a set of extensible schemas that enables webmasters to embed structured data on their web pages for use by search engines and other applications.

Schema.org is the new, new thing. Well, not that new, but increasingly and incredibly important. Why? Because as I learned here at the SMX Conference in San Jose (the nerd gathering of those people, like me, who are 'into' search engine optimization, 'structured markeup' (which is what Schema.org) is all about lets you influence how your company, people, products and services are displayed on Google SERPS (search engine results page).
